Why Fenris?
Other authenticators put a high premium on convenience, allowing credentials to be read and transferred to other devices at will, storing your credentials with cloud providers, etc.
Unfortunately, this convenience comes at the expense of security.
Fenris instead stores your credentials in the secure element of your device, from which they can not be extracted — ever. Even when backups are enabled, recovery is only possible using your offline backup seed. This ensures that even the device that creates your backups can't access them.
Features
Hardware-Backed Security
Passkeys and 2FA secrets are stored in secure hardware, and are literally impossible to steal from your device.
Degoogled
Fenris does not depend on Google Play Services, and is developed and tested on GrapheneOS for maximum privacy.
Free Software
Fenris is released as free software under the GPLv3. Anyone is free to inspect, modify and redistribute the source code.
Offline
Fenris does not collect any metrics or user data, or upload your credentials to cloud services. You are in control!
Unbreakable Backups
Backups — if enabled — are protected by a random seed, stored offline as a QR code or a BIP-39 seed phrase.
Passkey Support
Get rid of usernames and passwords entirely using passkeys!
Of course, Fenris also acts as a standard 2FA authenticator.
